new found gym fiend

I've been going to the gym religoulsly for the past few weeks and um well lets just in the dictionary next to the word unfir you'd most likely find a pic of me...lol hey but am a work in prgress right.

Anyways I completely and utterly hate the treadmill normally but yesterday I developed a new found appreciation for the damn thing. So its winter in the Southern Hemisphere so the gym is crazy empty...ha so thats a gud thing hate standing in ine to use the equipment.

Anyway heres what typical workout looks like for me

10 minutes treadmill
40 mintes spinning(ouch! my thighs and ass!!)
10 minutes rowing
30 minutes circuit (weights)
15 minutes stairmaster

Try to do a min of 2hours. Want to be ready when summer hits :)
So what are your guys workouts like?

*images via: http://www.nelsonmandela.org/index.php/news/article/lets_make_south_africa_the_first_country_to_eradicate_poverty_says_professo/

So this past Saturday on July 11th was the Annual nelson Mandela Lecture held at Johannesburg City Hall. This years speaker was Professor Mohammed Yunus from Bangladesh India. dot kno much about about but he sounds like a BOOS like dude so google him.

He was an amazing orator held the the audience capture through his entire lecture. And now to the subject of my Post. Prof Yunus is a philanthropist who started this bank in Bangladesh which gives loans mainly to women. He also helped found many companies to deal with the problems facing Bangladesh. So the giat of his lecture was this that South Africa should eradicate poverty in the next 20 yearsd and then create a poverty museum, Crazy right welll becuase no one in Sa will know what poverty looks like. Thats some pretty boss like ideas. Will try get the podcast of the lecture and post tall need to hear this guy speak. Anyway thought I'd share coz I thought it was really prolific stuff.

Election euphoria with a side order of Proposal/ Thesis blues

Am really trying to get into this whole posting regularly thing am gonna try be good with that.

We just had elections in SA still have my thumb ink mark and it was one of the most memorable and exciting experiences to date. I've never felt so connected and a part of 'democracy', it always felt so abstract to me the elections helped me see how it worked. I am missing the debates on Sunday nights though politicians are so entertaining and the crowds who booed and cheered added that extra touch of ...ah something.

On a more serious and one that stands to get in the way of any hope or aspirations of an academic or any other career for that matter is the startling realisation that I have yet to come up with a question for my thesis, have done no reading for my proposal, have not yet completed a first draft, have no idea what interests me am not likely to develop it in the next few days and its due i just two months...sigh. I am in super panic mode!!!

Am hoping a miralce happens and it gets done on time to top it off exams are around the corner and papers ared ue practically everyday...ah the life of a MA student.

I have decided to stay positive on a lighter note am addicted Kanye Wests hblog its on FIRE!! its fresh check it out. http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/

Happyness is CURRENCY!!!!!!!!!

Yes I know I used the spelling from the Will Smith film, but I like it better this way. So every week in the Lifestyle section of the Sunday Times they wask people: If money could buy happyness... (they get to fill in what comes next for themselves). I've been reading this section of the paper and have yet to be satisfied witht the answers they give. Lets face it most of the people if not all of them being interviewed do not have money problems.

Lets get to the point yeah. I was watching a show on TV and it was two friends who were exactly the same age and one looked so much younger and just happier and content with life, while the other looked beaten down and just about ready to break down.

So had this kind of light bulb moment...that happyness is currency and if you choose it for yourself you really choose health, wealth abundance in all things. Its like when you're happy things become easier they just seem to fall into place with such precision, at least that's what I have experienced.

So from now on am going to wait for the Sunday Times and thumb the Lifestyle section till I get to the Interview of the South African of the moment an dread their answer to: 'If money could buy happiness.." with a new opennes and appreciation of whatever they come. Just becuase I know that Happyness is the Currency and with it I really dont need nothing else.
